ROBERT
POWERS BIOGRAPHY
Robert Powers grew up in Laguna Beach, California,
surfing, sailing, playing tennis and riding horses.
One of his early instructors was well-known
California artist, Hal Akins. Robert went on
to earn a degree from Chapman University in Film,
with a minor in Art, and furthered his studies at
the Art Students League in New York City.
Robert credits Hopper, Degas, Whistler and Hockney
as inspiration for his work.
Robert previously worked in the film industry as a
coordinating producer on "Santa Barbara" and as
assistant to Danny DeVito. His artwork has
appeared in television shows such as "Gilmore Girls"
and "Curb Your Enthusiasm", as well as being
featured in the New York Times Magazine. He
has shown at the Art Students League, had three solo
exhibitions in California, participated in the
Balboa Island Art Walk, and had two solo exhibitions
at Corporate Canvas in Wilmington, NC..
Robert and his wife, actress Sydney Penny, split
their time between Wilmington, NC and New York City.
They have a son and two Siamese cats, Slinky and
Yo-Yo.
